Energy Efficiency Projects Competitive Grant
ENERGY EFFICIENCY PROJECTS - Funds Awarded: $14,176,883
Most CMHA estates were constructed between 1930 and 1970. As a result, little consideration was given to energy efficiency in building design and site layout at most CMHA properties. Studies and investigations conducted by CMHA revealed that a significant amount of funding would be required to modify such sites to become energy efficient. Under the energy efficiency grant applications, CMHA requested funding to implement strategies and improvements proposed by engineers hired by CMHA, which would enable the housing authority to reduce its energy consumption by more than 40% at the renovated estates.
CMHA was awarded $14,176,883 from the Competitive Grant process to fund large-scale energy efficiency projects at ten CMHA estates:
