Outhwaite Homes Redevelopment (bldg #3) - Funds Awarded: $5,266,000
- 73% Complete
- Completion Tentatively Scheduled for Late September 2011
The ARRA Funds awarded to CMHA for the redevelopment of Outhwaite Homes Estate were used to demolish a dilapidated, serpentine, brick apartment complex built in the 1930s, located at E. 43rd Street and Quincy Avenue, and to replace it with a newly constructed, three-story apartment building. Demolition began in spring 2010, and ground was broken at the site to begin the new construction on September 1, 2010. The new building will contain 36 units, of which, 10 units will be completely UFAS accessible. The new apartment building has been designed to have a state-of-the-art security system and to be energy efficient. It will have an on-site management office, community rooms, and meeting spaces. The building will be accessible to persons with disabilities and will have ample parking, landscaping, and beautification.
