Woodhill Community Center Formula Grant

Woodhill Community Center - Funds Awarded: $5,812,400

  • 75% Complete
  • Completion Tentatively Scheduled for Late September 2011

Using ARRA Formula Grant funds, CMHA is renovating and adding on to the Community Center at Woodhill Homes Estate. The original Community Center at Woodhill was built in 1939, it has been vacant for 20 years, and was in severe disrepair. Using Stimulus funds, CMHA is completely renovating the interior and exterior of the existing, dilapidated Community Center, and also constructing an addition to expand the space and increase the usability of the center. The original center is 10,000 sq. ft., and the addition will add another 10,000 sq. ft. of space to the center, doubling its size. The existing site will be re-graded and improved to increase accessibility, provide parking, and to better connect the lower and upper areas of estate. Construction began in July 2010. When work is complete, it will provide an impressive central recreation and community gathering place at Woodhill Homes Estate. The grand opening of the new Woodhill Community Center is projected to occur in late summer 2011.
