Service Person V

GENERAL SUMMARY: Under the general supervision of the Housing Manager or other of a superior, the Service Person V, performs work that is over and beyond the capacity of a Service Person IV; such as above-average and advanced maintenance, repair, and major alterations of CMHA buildings, family dwellings, and facilities. The Service Person V must have the demonstrated (verified via testing) knowledge, skills, and abilities in one of the following fields: Electrical, Plumbing, Carpentry, and Roofing. No supervisory responsibilities; may serve as lead worker for lower classified employees when so designated.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

EDUCATION: High School Diploma or equivalent. Some courses in electrical work. Electrician is preferred.

EXPERIENCE: Two to three years of progressively more responsible experience in maintenance work.

SKILLS:

• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
• Ability to write clearly and legibly.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
• Ability to use power and hand tools.
• Ability to work inside or outside in cold, hot, wet, and/or dry weather.
• Ability to perform light to heavy lifting.
• Ability to perform one or more of the craft vocational areas at a high proficiency level.
• Ability to coordinate work with lower classified employees.
• Ability to communicate and interact well with the public, CMHA residents, and other CMHA employees.

OTHER:

• Possession of a valid Ohio Vehicle Operator’s license and insurability under CMHA standards.
• Possession of other specific type of registration/certification relevant to assignment.

The qualifications listed above are guidelines. Other combinations of education and experience that could provide the necessary knowledge, skill, and abilities to perform the job will be considered.
