Commodity Contracts
Through the Energy Performance Contract, CMHA has made significant
progress in reducing its natural gas, electricity,
and water consumption. To
address the other side of our utility cost
equation, CMHA has entered into two new commodity
contracts.
Effective January 1, 2008, CMHA entered into a five-year contract
with Cleveland Thermal Steam Distribution LLC, a Public Utilities Commission
regulated company, to provide steam utility service to CMHA’s
Ernest J. Bohn Tower, a senior designated high-rise in downtown Cleveland.
Effective November 1, 2008 CMHA entered into a two-year contract with
Interstate Gas
Supply to supply all of CMHA’s natural gas requirements
(approximately 600,000 mcf's a year). This marks the first
natural gas commodity contract that CMHA
has ever entered into.
Both of these commodity contracts provide CMHA
with significantly more budgetary controls over
these utility costs.

New highly
efficient central heating boilers (controlled
by our Building Automation Systems)
installed under the Energy Performance
Contract, combined with favorable natural
gas supply contract rates help to ensure
that our utility costs are well controlled.

will be served by Cleveland Thermal Steam,
who provides
steam for many downtown buildings.
