 Sustainability can
be defined as meeting our current energy needs
while ensuring that the needs of our future
generations can also be met. CMHA is
dedicated to the ideals of sustainability.

Here you can learn about CMHA’s $33.6 million
Energy Performance Contract (EPC) through which
we significantly reduced our natural gas, water,
and electric consumption by installing more
energy efficient equipment in our high-rise
and family homes. You can also learn about
our recycling initiative, Clean
With Green program, and energy
efficient laundry facilities.
Our Energy Conservation Group, which was created to implement and
monitor the EPC, has evolved into the Sustainability Group. We are
charged with continuously seeking out strategies to move CMHA toward
becoming a truly sustainable organization.
We clearly recognize that our success is tied to perhaps the most
challenging aspect of our work, the winning of hearts and minds. We
will only succeed if our employees, residents, and suppliers each view
sustainability as their responsibility … their legacy to reduce
the environmental footprint that they leave behind.
