Paying Rent to CMHA
CMHA mails a rent statement each month to every resident. The rent statement must be included with all rent payments. However, failure to receive a rent statement is not a valid reason to default and/or fail to pay rent and is not a defense in an eviction action brought on the grounds of nonpayment of rent.
If a resident does not receive a rent statement by the third day of the month, the resident must report immediately to the Management Office to obtain a rent statement or to find out why a rent statement was not received.
Rent is due on the first day of every month
and may be either:
- Paid at the branch of any U.S. Bank or
- Mailed to CMHA in the reply envelope included with the Resident's Rent Statement.
CMHA grants a ten day grace period wherein the resident may pay rent and not be considered delinquent. However, rent is delinquent if paid after the tenth day of the month. CMHA is under no obligation to accept a rent payment after the tenth day of the month. If the tenth day falls on a Sunday or a legal holiday, rent must be paid by the close of business on the day after the Sunday or holiday.
If the rent is not paid by the tenth day of each month, the resident will be charged a $10.00 late fee.
Residents should contact their Housing Manager if they need help understanding the terms of their lease.
