Riverside Park Groundbreaking
Thank you to all residents, staff and community partners for attending the Riverside Park Groundbreaking Celebration on June 7th. We are very excited to begin Phase II, which will consist of 203 townhome units.

Splash Parks
CMHA held splash park opening events at Cedar, Heritage View Homes, Riverside Park, Woodhill and Outhwaite Estates for residents to enjoy the summer, access resources for employment and financial literacy education and more as part of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Strong Families Initiative.

The Flag Ceremony for Girl Scouts of North East Ohio's 2019 Annual Meeting of General Assembly was led by CMHA's Lakeview troop 75222. In addition, six CMHA Girl Scouts were selected to attend the Michelle Obama "Becoming Me" book tour. When asked if they enjoyed the event, they replied, “We felt like movie stars!” We thank the Girl Scouts of North East Ohio for providing this wonderful opportunity to our young leaders. Furthermore, congratulations to Shana Allen of Heritage View Homes and Latoya Goss of King Kennedy for receiving the Girl Scouts Appreciation Pin. This pin recognized exemplary service in support of delivering the Girl Scout Leadership Experience.
What's Next for Cleveland
CMHA thanks Cleveland State University's Levin College and all of the panelists, including CMHA’s CEO Jeffery K. Patterson, for being a part of the Levin College Forum Equity Planning: What’s Next for Cleveland. It was a great discussion on equity planning, strategy and community development in Cleveland.
Family Self-Sufficiency
Family Self-Sufficiency (FSS) provided tools and techniques on banking and budgeting to 34 participants. Thank you to Dean Johnston of Fifth Third Bank for engaging with our residents.
NAHRO Resident Award
Congratulations to CMHA resident Abdullah Jackson for receiving a scholarship from NCRC NAHRO!
Earth Day
Our Earth Day celebration was a big success at our Woodhill Community Center! Over 50 youth attended and participated in many activities including flower planting, flower pot painting and creating buzzing bee twirlers. Thank you to our partners and vendors for engaging with our community.
Family Self-Sufficiency Partner Fair
Thank you to our partners for sharing resources and information to our residents, staff and community members. 
High School Musical
CMHA youth from Cedar Estates participated in Disney’s High School Musical performance at Marion-Sterling School Cleveland Metropolitan School District. They did a wonderful job singing and dancing and acted like pros.
Playground Safety Contest
To celebrate National Playground Safety Week, HAI Group held its annual Playground Safety Poster and Essay Contest. The theme this year was ‘Make Your Playground Clean and Safe – Be a Danger Detective!’ Congratulations to Amani at Riverside Park for winning 3rd Place in the age group!
CMHA Police Memorial
Community members and supporters both near and far gathered to remember four fallen officers. Our thoughts are with the family members and we thank them for their service to the community.

Spring Cleanup
Our Community Spring Cleanup initiative took place at many properties throughout Cuyahoga County. Residents and staff worked together to maintain a clean and safe environment.

Mother's Day Celebration
CMHA hosted our annual Mother's Day Celebration at Outhwaite Community Center. Special thanks to the CMHA Resident Services and Outhwaite Estates staff, Kelly Fuller, Danita Harris, Molina Healthcare, Cleveland Clinic, Tonya Noel, John Boston and Fredrick’s.
Father's Day Celebration
CMHA hosted our annual Father’s Day Celebration at Woodhill Community Center. Special thanks to the CMHA Resident Services, Asset Management, Property Maintenance and Woodhill Estates staff and special guest speaker Darnell Carter.

Tri-C Partnership
CMHA is excited to be part of a wonderful partnership between Cuyahoga Community College, Esperanza, Inc. and Olivet Housing Community Development that will support individuals and families on their path to success by providing affordable, community-based educational and workforce programming.

Tech Camp
CMHA youth enjoyed a full week of technology through our Tech Camp in partnership with Tech Corps. They learned how to create their own mobile apps, presented their final projects and, as a part of the ConnectHome program, each family received a donated desktop computer for their hard work and dedication.

Spring Jam 2019
Residents at Lakeview Community Center participated in a STEM Program called ‘Spring Jam 2019’. Through hands-on activities and field trips, the youth became more aware and involved in their environment utilizing science, technology, engineering and math tools. Special thanks to our partner, Ohio City Inc. for sponsoring all of the activities.

Patrick Henry’s True2U Cleveland Metropolitan School District class visited CMHA. We enjoyed sharing information about CMHA, giving the students a tour of our campus building and discussing the work we do in the community.

Cleveland Foundation
Congratulations to our partner, the Cleveland Foundation, for being awarded the Secretary's Award for Public-Philanthropic Partnerships by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD)! This award recognizes innovative partnerships between foundations and government that have been critical in transforming communities and improving the quality of life for low-and moderate-income residents across the country.

Woodhill Cookout
CMHA employees and supporters engaged with Woodhill residents through games and conversations at the spring cookout! This event brought different perspectives to the table which will only launch the #WoodhillUpNext project to higher heights.

Community Leadership
Thank you to CMHA Human Resources Director Betsy McCafferty for her outstanding service as the Past President of the Northern Ohio Chapter of International Public Management Association for Human Resources and congratulations to CMHA Human Resources Deputy Director Ronaye Steele for being selected as the President for 2019-2020!

Community Gardens
Across Cuyahoga County, residents and staff prepared the community gardens for summer. The produce, tended to and harvested by residents and staff, are given to residents so that they can enjoy fresh, quality food. “Teach a person to garden, and the whole neighborhood gets tomatoes.”
Organizations across Cuyahoga and Summit County are teaming up to end low literacy through a nationwide competition through XPRIZE. Our community may win a $100,000 prize dedicated to supporting adult literacy efforts.

Riverview Computer Trainings
Ashbury Senior Computer Community Center facilitates computer trainings at Riverview where residents learn valuable skills such as word processing, email and navigating the internet.

CMHA Graduation

AT&T Believe Cleveland
Congratulations to all involved in the AT&T Believe Cleveland initiative to bring 5G network to Cleveland!

The #WoodhillUpNext development continues to evolve as community partners provide input to help set priorities to determine strategy and actions that will address community needs and bring the Transformation Plan to life.

Coffee with a Cop
Residents and CMHA Police Department officers gathered together at Union Square for a Coffee with a Cop event to engage in community conversations, ask questions and voice concerns.

LEAD Cohort V
Cleveland Public Library hosted Cohort V, sharing the resources available to the community. All 21 employees graduated from the program, each exemplifying our CARES core values and demonstrating that residents in our community come first. As a follow-up activity, members reunited through community engagement activities. The group donated kitchen appliances, clothing and other household items to Y-Haven and spent the afternoon playing games, drawing and having meaningful conversations with the youth at Boys & Girls Clubs of Cleveland.
Senior Day
The City of Cleveland - City Hall Cleveland Department of Aging celebrated the 30th Annual Senior Day at Cleveland Public Hall. Congratulations to Delores Gray for winning the Senior Honoree Award for Ward 5. In addition to the Senior Honoree Award, Delores Gray was featured by Campus District for her engagement with Care Alliance and CMHA.
Bring Your Child To Work Day
CMHA participated in the national Bring Your Child To Work Day. It was rewarding to be able to show our children what we do in the community on a daily basis at CMHA. More than 80 employees brought their children to work and everyone had a great time.
Sherwin-Williams Partnership
Residents at Riverview Tower put their knowledge and skills to work as they painted the top two floors of their building. Thank you to Sherwin-Williams for your partnership and providing this opportunity for residents to take pride in their community.
Donation Drive
Thank you to CMHA employees and members of the Cleveland State University's Leadership Academy for supporting our seniors and hosting a donation drive to provide personal goods to the residents, along with the opportunity to play games, create puzzles, make keychains and print 3-D objects at Beachcrest.
Power of Laughter
CMHA residents attended the 9th Annual Power of Laughter Health Workshop & Comedy Luncheon, an event to increase awareness of stroke prevention, risk factors and warning signs. “Always find a reason to laugh. It may not add years to your life but it surely will add life to your years.” 
Jobs Plus Motivational Mixer
CMHA community members and staff celebrated Jobs Plus participants and their self-sufficiency success over the past year. Jobs Plus is a program for residents to develop through work readiness, job placement and financial literacy workshops and opportunities.
Press Conference
CMHA CEO Jeffery K. Patterson spoke at the City of Cleveland Mayor Frank G. Jackson and Ward 6 Councilman Blaine Griffin’s press conference regarding the demolition of the Victoreen building on Woodland Avenue and the CMHA revitalization work being done with the Choice Planning grant. 
5K Race
CMHA employees took on the challenge of training for a 5K race and participating in the Diversity Center of Northeast Ohio’s 17th Annual Walk, Rock & Run. Congratulations to those who participated in this event!

Lakeview Cookout
Lakeview's Community Center hosted their Family Summer Kick-Off Cookout. Families were able to register their youth for summer camps and access community organization information and resources.
