The Cuyahoga Metropolitan Housing Authority Police Department, also known as the Department of Safety and Security, is a state-certified law enforcement agency and is nationally accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA). Our officers are certified by the Ohio Peace Officers Training Commission and enforce all city, state, and federal laws, as well as agency policies and procedures and have full arrest powers.

Charged with keeping our residents and properties safe, the CMHA Police Department provides quality law enforcement service to residents, employees, and visitors of CMHA properties located throughout Cuyahoga County. The Department provides policing services to CMHA residents 24 hours a day, seven days a week, year-round.

The men and women of the Police Department know that there is no greater honor than serving others. The Department is proud to have a team that is recognized as among the most tenacious, respectful, understanding, service-oriented and well-trained members found in any law enforcement agency in the United States. The Police Department is constantly patrolling—protecting lives and property—and providing assistance to those in need.
